Fall Inspires Change

“Look around you. Everything changes. Everything on this earth is in a continuous state of evolving, refining, improving, adapting, enhancing, and changing. You were not put on this earth to remain stagnant.”                     - Dr. Steve Mataboli

Fall is a beautiful reminder of one of the important constants of life: change. Soon the summer heat will give way to crisper breezes, foliage will seamlessly blend from vibrant green to rusted browns, eventually dropping completely, preparing for next year’s blossoms. Taking cues from nature, the inescapable winds of change and evolution blow through our lives, encouraging reflection and growth.

Are things changing faster than ever? It certainly feels that way, but more likely is that we are simply more aware of the changes taking place. We are constantly connected through social platforms and news media that allow us to access quite literally any and all the information we desire. We have a front row seat to the rapidity of change. Given how new we are to this constant access, the only source of data we have to measure its impact is personal experience and a desire to make sure that this is a change for the better. Instead of letting it be overwhelming, curate your access to what leads to the most growth and positive change for you. Find reminders that gently nudge you in the right direction, like inspirational jewelry that you can carry with you always, or inspirational home decor that serve as cues to be present through change.

“Don’t just be who you are and what you are. Move, evolve, change, grow and become better each day.” RVM

As constant as the forces of change are the forces of love and support of family and friends who shepherd us through the hard times, and lift us higher through the good. Sometimes the best way to see our best attributes is through the eyes of the people who love us the most. Their honesty can also be gentle encouragement to make the changes that are necessary for self-development.

Betterment is a tenet - indeed, it is an expectation - of our society. The evolution of change, broadening horizons, self-improvement, and the improvement of the world for others, is something we can all hold dear and work to achieve, whether we make the journey alone or are lucky enough to have friends or family to walk the road with us.
