This nautical tide clock depicts Boston Harbor, MA, and the surrounding shores and islands. The tide clock is 16.5" in diameter and features an outline of the shoreline and islands that sits above the face, providing some beautiful dimension. Water depth contours are laser etched into the clock’s face to show the topographical lines of the ocean floor and are highlighted by a deep blue-green stain.
What is Tide Clock and How Does It Work? Nautical Wood Map tide clocks rely on a simple quartz mechanism driven by the lunar cycle. The moon's gravitational force creates bulges in the Earth's oceans, causing high and low tides. Tide clocks are calibrated to predict these tidal movements based on the position of the moon relative to Earth. By accurately mapping out the lunar phases, tide clocks provide a visual representation of the current status of the tides. Our tide clocks rotate every 12 hours and 25 minutes, in accordance with the lunar day, which is 24 hours and 50 minutes long and contains two high tides.
How do you set a Tide Clock? Simply hang the clock on your wall and set the indicator hand to high tide when the next high tide in your area occurs. It is best to set the hand at high tide during a full or new moon. Users can consult the tide clock to plan activities such as fishing, boating, beachcombing, or other water activities, taking advantage of optimal tide conditions.
