WHEN DEBI AND TERRY opened The Giving Tree Gallery in Sarasota in 1994, the collection consisted entirely of hand-carved woodwork made by American artists. Over the next three decades, that small gallery evolved into two Sarasota locations filled with fine and designer jewelry, contemporary art and handcrafted home décor. The collection has grown, but the idea behind it has remained remarkably consistent: seek out distinctive work, understand the people and processes behind it, and offer pieces with the ability to become part of someone’s life. Today, the second generation of the family carries that vision forward, continuing to shape a gallery where discovery still feels personal.
The Gallery Today: Two Sarasota Locations
Today, The Giving Tree Gallery has two Sarasota locations: the original gallery at 5 N Boulevard of the Presidents on St. Armands Circle and a second gallery at 1379 McAnsh Square in Downtown Sarasota. Both remain family owned and share the same commitment to distinctive jewelry, art and handcrafted design, while each offers its own collection and experience.
The gallery’s 30th anniversary in 2024 brought an unexpected test. Hurricanes Helene and Milton sent nearly five feet of water through the St. Armands location, damaging the gallery and destroying much of its inventory. With the support of its family, staff and community, The Giving Tree rebuilt and reopened approximately one month later. More than a business recovery, the reopening affirmed the gallery’s commitment to St. Armands Circle and to the Sarasota community that has supported it since 1994.

The Giving Tree Gallery works with more than a dozen jewelry designers, representing everything from bold, mixed-material statement pieces to diamond and gemstone fine jewelry. The designers highlighted here are just a few of the collections available at the gallery. UNOde50 is known for sculptural Spanish jewelry that combines cast metal with leather, crystals and other unexpected materials. Shy Creation brings a fresh, wearable perspective to diamond jewelry, while Doves by Doron Paloma pairs architectural design with diamonds and richly colored gemstones. Collections from Monica Rich Kosann and Coeur de Lion add meaningful lockets and distinctive German color to a collection chosen for individuality rather than adherence to a single look.
UNOde50: Handmade Artisan Jewelry from Spain
UNOde50 began with a rule: fifty pieces per design, a practice the brand has since moved past. What remains is small-run production out of Spain, in 18KT gold overlay, silver, leather, and crystal, priced for everyday wear rather than special occasions. Travel and movement shape much of the collection, including the mixed-metal Snowflake Necklace, which combines several finishes in one pendant. Notably, Alexa Chung and Sarah Jessica Parker have worn the brand in the past.
Coeur de Lion: Bold, Colorful Design from Germany
Coeur de Lion adds bold color and clean geometry through jewelry handcrafted in Stuttgart, Germany. Founded by Carola and Nils Eckrodt in 1987, the brand is best known for its iconic GEOCUBE® designs, which combine precisely arranged cubes with materials such as natural stones, crystal, glass and stainless steel.
Monica Rich Kosann: Lockets & Keepsake Jewelry
